No, having a flame fruit in your pocked always gives a small mood bonus. As for special plants, I keep a large stock of life fruits (ca 200 fruits in the fridge and 100 plants atm) to keep my first two sims forever young (well, ne is an adult and the other a young adult) even though they've got great grandchildren :) I'm still looking for a multi fruit though...
