Under the light throttle the size of the backfire seems to vary. Sometimes it is a quiet muffled pop, other times it is a loud bang. But after the car warms up it is a consistently present. The engine builder recommends 10° initial timing, but after the backfires I bumped it up to 14° with no change. The backfire still exist.

An exhaust backfire when decelerating, is usually caused by: a lean condition (especially when the throttle blades snap shut) exhaust header gasket leak (failed exhaust gasket allows additional air into cylinder during the camshaft's overlap period)

2012年4月27日 · What settings will stop my car from running so rich and making exhaust backfire pops? I tried the cam to large and no difference, on the Atomic Dash the AFR at idle is anywhere from 11-12.3 which is really rich, when cruising it stays well below 13 and at WOT its around 13.5.

2020年7月3日 · Car idles and drives great right now. Issue I have is when the engine is at higher RPM, above 3000 then let off the gas there will be a popping sound out the exhaust. Does it if you rev in idle or decelerating. On throttle no issues and runs normal. I have not adjusted anything on the tune. The car is a '89 Mustang 302 with H/C/I.

2021年4月14日 · Backfires out the Sniper and also out the exhaust. So timing is my real issue. I checked it when it idled and it's 15° as recommended. So now like I said I can't get it to start again. Cranks and wants to start, but then quits. Touch the gas and it'll want to backfire and spit gas out the Sniper.
