The Morro Bay estuary is a 2,300-acre semi-enclosed body of water where freshwater flowing from the land mixes with the saltwater of the sea. The estuary environment encompasses the lower reaches of Chorro and Los Osos creeks, a wide range of wetlands, salt and freshwater marshes, intertidal mud flats, eelgrass beds, and other sub-tidal habitats.
