Crowfoot Glacier is located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, 32 km (20 mi) northwest of Lake Louise, and can be viewed from the Icefields Parkway. The glacier is situated on the northeastern flank of Crowfoot Mountain.

The spectacular Crowfoot Glacier can be viewed from a lookout point on the world-famous Icefields Parkway about 36 km (22 mi) north of Lake Louise. It’s a great place to pull over and admire the vista.

Crowfoot Glacier is one of the first glaciers you will see on the Icefield Parkway as you head towards Jasper. There are two views: on is from the viewpoint on the highway, and the other side of the glacier can be seen from nearby Bow Lake.

Crowfoot Mountain is a mountain within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. The Crowfoot Glacier sits on the northeastern flank of the mountain. The mountain was named in 1959 after the glacier.

From this pullover viewpoint on the Icefields Pkwy you can see the icy behemoth of Crowfoot Glacier nestled on the rocky flanks of Crowfoot Mountain, above Bow Lake. The glacier was originally named for its three claw-like ‘toes,’ but unfortunately its lowest toe melted by the 1940s.

The hike up to Crowfoot Pass and onwards to Balfour Viewpoint provides serene solitude in the remote backcountry. Enjoy a river crossing, a high alpine pass and incredible view of a majestic waterfall.

While one of the three “toes” has now receded and disappeared, the glacier is no less spectacular. The Crowfoot Glacier sits above Bow Lake, providing stunning photo opportunities for those traveling the Icefields Parkway.
