Cao Zhen (died April or May 231), [a] courtesy name Zidan, was a military general of the state of Cao Wei during the Three Kingdoms period of China. He was an adopted son of Cao Cao, a warlord who rose to power in the late Eastern Han dynasty and laid the foundation for Wei.

In August 230, Cao Zhen led an army from Chang'an to attack Shu via the Ziwu Valley (子午谷). At the same time, another Wei army led by Sima Yi, acting on Cao Rui's order, advanced towards Shu from Jing Province by sailing along the Han River.

When Cao Pi ascended the throne as Emperor, Cao Zhen was promoted to General Who Guards the West and titled Lord of Dongxiang. Two years later in AD 222, Cao Zhen was appointed Great General of the Upper Army and received orders to attack Sun Quan of Wu.

As an important subordinate of Cao Cao, Cao Zhen emerged in the turbulent Three Kingdoms era with his outstanding military talent and excellent command ability, and made indelible contributions to the establishment and consolidation of Cao Wei.

37 Following Cao Pi's ascension to the throne of the Wei dynasty, Cao Zhen is appointed as General Who Guards the West and created as Marquis of Dong District. He is entrusted with military affairs within Yong and Liang provinces.

Cao Zhen (Chinese: 曹真) is a minor character in the 14th-century Chinese classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong, and its multiple adaptations. He is an adopted son of Cao Cao.
