2020年4月28日 · The .45-90 is an express cartridge intended to use lighter bullets in the 330 grain range. Great for putting the hurt on something up close, but as the ranges are extended the poorer balistics can't keep up with the 405 grain or 500 grain loadings in the .45-70.

If I remember correctly, Sharps had the rights to the Sharps 2.4 name so Winchester called theirs the 45-90 WCF All the cartridges in this family have the same dimensions every where except in length. So if your die is long enough you may load all the different lengths.

2008年5月20日 · You might want to look carefully as to witch 45-90 you look at. I have both a Browning and a Winchester in 45-90 with 34" barrels like the picture you posted. Some of these guns have 30" barrels and also some do not come with sights. As to a scope for this I would recommend a MVA with the mil dot and in 23" length.

2011年11月9日 · So the 45-90 was offered as the 2.4” case and a 32 twist. This twist is much slower than the Government 45 standard twist put in their model 1886 chambered for 45-70 Govt. So, back in the day, even though an original 45-90 Winchester could be shot (in a pinch) with 45-70-405 rounds, accuracy would not be as good as with the lighter bullets.

2010年10月20日 · I have measured several different 45-70 chambers and a drawing of any one of them would not be significant as the throat configuration differs considerably on each one and none of them conform to the SAAMI specs. A 45-70 chamber could be similar to the 45-90 the only real difference is the distance from the base to the throat area.

2012年3月25日 · I think the 45/90 is a very under-rated cartridge and was probably more deserving of a come-back than the 45/70 from a performance point of view, but of course there were many more 45/70 rifles in existence and the 45/70 ammo was still in production so I guess from a purely business angle the 45/70 made more sense.
