If weight is an issue on your boat, look into that. Ask about fuel consumption of a 150 HPDI vs a 150 4 stroke -- even though the 150 4 stroke is only a 4 cylinder.

My dealer nixed the Honda idea because of the weight.<br />I would rather have the Merc 115 but my dealer says they are impossible to get.

The 4-stroke5hp Briggs and Stratton outboard is very noisey The 25,30,40, 50, and 60hp Evinrude E-TEC 2 stroke outboards are for the most part as quiet or quieter at speed than the equivalent 4-strokes. That holds true for the larger models, too.

It is fairly new and performs well except that it is too heavy and weighs the back of the boat down and has no get up. Replaced it with a 1979 25HP johnson which is much lighter and of course has the necessary get up.

2023年4月11日 · The 19 year old Yamaha 90 hp 2 stroke bit the dust. The prop on the 2 stroke was a Power Tec 3x13.5x15 which truned 5200 rpm at wot, which was right in the power range. I re-powered it with a Yamaha 90 hp 4 stroke. I used the prop off the 2 stroke and the engine wants to go over 6000rpm which indicates it needs more pitch.

2008年8月15日 · Re: 2-stroke Vs 4 on a pontoon. Agree with Rick. The "Bigfoot" makes a big difference on a toon. We have two toons, both with 75 HP Mercs. One is 2-stroke, the other 4-stroke. Both toons see use about 70 days per year. Both engines have been flawless. The older 2-stroke has over 1200 hours. I will say, the 4-stroke uses about 1/3 less fuel.
