2019年9月30日 · Previous owner installed drywall in basement 15+/- years ago. Some of it is yellow which I chalked up to old age. I am taping/mudding and the yellow seems to be bleeding (or at least showing) right through the joint compound. I want to be sure I get it well sealed before topcoating. Do you think I need something heavy duty like Cover Stain? Thx.

2013年8月4日 · It's often in the high 80's and 50% humidity. The areas where the drywall joints are, are turning yellow. The walls were all primed and then painted using bathroom paint. The actual joints seem fine, the parts that are yellowing are where the drywall compound was feathered out. this room was painted about 3 weeks ago. I'm very upset!

2012年8月31日 · 1) most visible is along the drywall connection, and there is a texture there now, that was not there before (10 months ago). Hopefully you can see on the picture. Also, at the far joint with the vertical ceiling it has a stain too, less visible, but also with texture sort of coming out.

2009年11月1日 · Yellow mud is used often -Some tapers prefer it so they can better see their work against the white paper. My taper uses tinted mud for final touch ups so he can spot them and sand prior to paint. Big pain when you paint an unsanded spot.

2020年11月4日 · I tried wet scrubbing some of the spot stains, which was in thin mudded area at the edge of patch where it is simply mudding over existing painted drywall (below the actual patched hole, above outlet/switch), and it seemed to just wipe/scrub the mud off.

2014年7月1日 · Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up using Kilz Original today and it covered up the yellowed drywall just fine. But boy does that crap stink! And it burns the eyes too! I was wearing a dust mask, but apparently that isn't enough for those fumes. Any tips on how to deal with the fumes in the future? Would a respirator help?
