The Royal Tokaji Winery, founded in 1990, has become one of the most admired wineries in Tokaj. At the outset, Royal Tokaji decided to concentrate on producing single-vineyard wines, made from the First Growth vineyards of Mézes Mály, Nyulászó, Szt.

The majority of Royal Tokaji’s vineyards are in the Mád commune. These include the First Growths – Szt. Tamás, Nyulászó, Betsek, and the Second Growth Birsalmás. Royal Tokaji’s Mézes Mály vineyard – a Great First Growth – lies within the Tarcal commune.

The blend, now “Tokaji Aszú” is run off into stainless steel tanks or oak casks and fermented until it reaches the final balance. The Aszú wines undergo ageing in our cellar for a minimum of 2 years.

Betsek hill is a celebrated First Growth vineyard located in the Mád basin. Its volcanic bedrock is overlaid with rich clay mixed with dark, almost black humus soil and chalk-white minerals. Royal Tokaji owns 15ha of south-facing parcels planted with Furmint and Hárslevelű vines with an average age of around 50 years.

The harvest for Royal Tokaji dry wines finished in October and those who, like us, were patient enough and waited this far were rewarded with wines of great depth, bold structure, intense flavours and a very long finish.

ROYAL TOKAJI LATE HARVEST 2019. Pale gold colour with delicate citrus and spicy aromas. Light and refreshing on the palate with hints of white peach and honey. It has an excellent acid balance, a smooth, silky texture and a clean, long, crisp finish. Alcohol. 12%. Sugar. 94,8 g/l. Acidity. 6,9 g/l. Bottling date September 2020.
