Relax on our beautiful historic train cars while you take in the ever-changing scenery along Casco Bay. Onboard narration provides fascinating history about the sights along our route, as well as Maine railroading history.

Our roundtrip train ride is approximately 3 miles long and takes 40 minutes per trip. Along the way, you’ll get scenic vistas of Casco Bay, see exciting new developments along Portland’s waterfront, and pass lighthouses, marinas, forts, public parks, and even a beach!

The museum has a large collection of historic equipment from Maine’s narrow gauge railways. Below is a listing of locomotives, passenger coaches, combines, cabooses, box cars and other miscellaneous equipment in the museum’s collection.

Maine Narrow Gauge offers a 3-mile, 40-minute roundtrip journey into Maine railroad history. From your seat, you’ll take in excellent views of Casco Bay and learn about some of the sights that the train passes, as well as Maine’s unique railroading lore.

The organization operates a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2-mile (2.4 km) long railroad that runs along the waterfront of Casco Bay and parallels Portland's Eastern Promenade. Historic steam and diesel locomotives and a variety of restored coaches are used to run passenger services on the railroad.
