2022年1月6日 · LP is still wood and susceptible mold and rot if it doesn't properly dry out. Latest best practice with either is to install siding over a rain screen so there is proper ventilation or drying if wind blown rain gets behind the siding. I'm getting bids on some siding work and when I bring up rain screens I'm getting dead air.

2011年7月29日 · LP is the only thing available here in Vermont in small (less than truckload orders). We built some model sheds and used the panel form. The hard coat is the protective measure (so it seemed) so left the low ends uncut and the saw dust is fine, not quite as fine as Miritec but close.

2011年12月9日 · LP sells a lot of SmartSide in Minnesota. In fact they have two manufacturing plants there as well. It installs well and will survive your climate IF it is installed according to the manufacturer. Follow the directions exactly. LP smart side is not face nailed UNLESS it is the panel soffit or the shake siding. All lap siding is blind nailed.

2012年7月6日 · At my local Home Depot, there are two different but very similar looking LP shiplap 4x8 panels sold. One is SmartSide, and the other simply says 'Redwood Panel'. Home Depot's website has no information explaining in detail the difference between the two, so I emailed LP and they explained the difference. 1) $25 - SmartSide Panel (appears to be OSB)

2019年12月31日 · Thanks for the ideas. The siding was installed in the hot dry summer. The house was 20 years old and the old siding, a very similar product had come to bits so it was removed. The house had been wrapped and we added a second layer of house wrap over the old wrap. The house felt very dry when we put on the new siding.

2014年3月11日 · we use hitachi siding coil nailers, works wonders, we use the same guns for cedar shingles and fibre cement.. roofing nailers have too large a head and shank and are more prone to causing splitting putting down subfloor with glue and screws, well i saw dr. smith and the robot too , i had a martian burger and a sonic shake

2013年8月11日 · From the factory LP SmartSide products are very dry, about 4% MC. This is why they have you gap it 1/8'" to 3/16" depending on length of piece. The gaps will close up as the pieces reach EMC. Two type of substrate are offered, I'll call them fiber and flake. Flake is the OSB like material used for wood grained trim and lap siding.

2021年3月31日 · I am looking for a board and batten finish. I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on whether it would be a terrible idea to buy the 12" wide LP lap siding and install it vertically, then cover the seams with battens, rather than installing the panels and doing the same. I've not worked with smartside before.
