Tomb KV42 (Kings Valley 42) is an ancient Egyptian tomb in the Valley of the Kings near Luxor, Egypt. It was constructed for Hatshepsut-Meryetre , the wife of Thutmose III , but she was not buried in the tomb.

Since the discovery of the foundation deposits bearing the name of in 1921, there is no doubt concerning the original owner of KV 42. The tomb was not finished or used by the queen, the wife of Thutmes III. Instead, she might have been buried in KV 35, the tomb of her son, Amenhetep II.

2008 KV42 is the first trans-Neptunian object (TNO) with a retrograde orbit to be discovered. With a semi-major axis of 41.7 AU, [4] it was discovered while at a distance of 32 AU and has a perihelion at roughly the distance of Uranus.
