2023年4月8日 · I am a student looking for a durable (ideally wood) Ikea table top to sit on two Alex drawers. From my limited research, there seem to be two types of Ikea table tops: 1: hollow and cheap (eg. Lagkapten) 2: veneer and expensive (eg. Karlby) Are the more expensive tops worth the extra cost, and do they provide greater durability/longevity?

LAGKAPTEN and its predecessor LINNMON are made of the same materials; basically a Fiberboard top and Honeycomb structure paper filling. If you plan to use it, note 2 problems- Don't ever get the top wet, water spills etc. If it penetrates, it will develop unsightly bubbles on the surface. The center will sag over time.

2020年5月9日 · I’m headed to IKEA soon to get the concrete ekbaken to make an L desk. So two ekbakens, an Alex drawer, a two detolfs and some adjustable legs. Price sure got out of hand quickly like ordering at Taco Bell. Anyone familiar with the IKEA adjustable legs or risers on top of the Alex drawers? Does it make the desk too tall?

2021年9月22日 · Looking to get a new desk and have been contemplating the Lagkapten 78” table top with 2 Alex drawers on either side. My first question is would any sagging occur in the middle without any additional support? If my math is right, there would be approximately a 50” spacing between the drawers.

2021年3月1日 · I can solve the blue drawers by pulling a set I have in a different room and putting a different color there (if anything beside white is ever available again) but I still need a tabletop. I see my local IKEA says it has the 55 inch Lagkapten in black/brown available.

I'm a tall guy so I set the desk to the max height, but the adjustments are easy to do and is definitely nice to have the option for. I also love the opening between the table top and the metal grille area, it's fantastic for cable routing. One thing I didn't love about the desk was the under-desk mesh cable management included with it.

2021年5月10日 · Put the top piece on the bottom. It's going on carpet, so that's fine by me. Don't put the top drawer in for ease of assembly later. Use the "bottom" piece later on. Step 2. Get a general feel for where you want the drawers to sit under the Countertop.

Karlby is prettier and longer, Gerton is shorter but wider. The karby is only 25.5" which is very narrow unless you wall mount monitors.
