Welcome to Design Museum, an internationally recognized national specialist museum of Finnish design.

The Design Museum (Building D) and the adjacent Museum of Finnish Architecture (Building A) merged at the beginning of 2024. Over the next few years, the museum will continue to operate at these familiar locations in Helsinki’s Kaartinkaupunki district, offering a shared program.

Design Museum produces touring exhibitions on Finnish Design, its history and most important icons. Design Museum exhibitions have toured widely in Europe, Asia, South- and North America. The Design Museum’s collections are extensive and versatile and they shed light on the history and evolution of industrial arts in Finland. The collections include 75,000 objects, 45,000 drawings, and 125,000 images, with a data bank containing information on over 1,000 designers.

Design Museum Arabia is located at Arabianranta in Helsinki as part of Iittala & Arabia Design Centre. The museum displays the products of the Arabia ceramics factory and the Iittala glassworks, now part of the Fiskars Group, from 1873 to the present day.

The joint exhibition FIX: Care and Repair at the Museum of Finnish Architecture and the Design Museum focuses on repair and maintenance while also exploring how the passage of time affects architecture and design. Objects and buildings undergo constant change. …

The exhibition features Lavonen’s thoughts, new material on the process of creating art, and over twenty unique textile works and printed fabrics from the museum’s collection. Additional works are on loan from other collections and private individuals.
