The EMD GP7 is a four-axle (B-B) diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division and General Motors Diesel between October 1949 and May 1954. [2] The GP7 was the first EMD road locomotive to use a hood unit design instead of a car-body design.

FP7A 116A is the only engine remaining in CGW color. GP7 120 was rebuilt by EMD in 1956 to GP9R. GP35 301 does not exist, although some guy in Iowa believes that he has a photo.

GP7 120 Proviso, IL The merger of the CGW netted the C&NW only two GP7's (120-121). Both of them were operated for a very short time in yellow and green with their original numbers before being rebuilt and renumbered in the 4337-4338 series.
