Difference of reaction between NBS/CCl4 and NBS/AcOH
2017年5月5日 · With NBS/$\\ce{CCl4}$ allylic bromination occurs. But with NBS/$\\ce{AcOH}$ bromination occurs on the alkene double bond. Why does this difference occur and how? I.e what will be the mechanisms of both?
What is the function of acetic acid as a solvent in EAS reactions?
2018年3月21日 · I would like to know how exactly is $\ce{AcOH}$ participating in these two reactions. Is it supporting the generation of electrophile? If yes, then how? I couldn't find any relevant information on the net. The second reaction is from Clayden's book and it doesn't highlight the role of $\ce{AcOH}$ there.
Mechanism for reaction of beta-ketoacid with AcONa, AcOH with …
2022年8月15日 · I am unsure of how to go about designing a mechanism for the following molecule's reaction with AcONa and AcOH with heat. I thought perhaps it may work as a cyclisation reaction, forming an ether; or perhaps a decarboxylation. I've tried many of these mechanisms and none of them seem to give an answer that seems correct.
Does Br2/H2O oxidize all aldehydes including carbohydrates?
2017年3月20日 · Aldehydes, including aldoses, are oxidized to their respective carboxylic acids in the presence of $\ce{Br2}$ in $\ce{H2O}$.

Role of solvents in ozonolysis and oz0nolysis of alkynes with water
2018年4月1日 · Other reductive methods: $\ce {Zn/AcOH}$, triphenylphosphine ($\ce {PPh3}$), or thiourea ($\ce {NH2C(=S)NH2}$). Note: Recently, there is a publications claiming an efficient and convenient method for reductive workup of the ozonolysis reaction using sodium hydrosulfite.
What are the ozonolysis products of phenanthrene?
2021年5月24日 · In chloroform a polymeric mono-ozonide is obtained. In MeOH the reaction takes a different course resulting in the formation of a cyclic methoxy-hydroxy-peroxide and a cyclic dimethoxy-peroxide. Reductive work up (Zn/AcOH or Me2S) of …
Why is benzoic acid a stronger acid than acetic acid?
It is all about the electron withdrawing/ donating nature of the acid's functional groups. The more electron withdrawing the group, the stronger the acid will be.
Dehydration of secondary alcohol via E1 mechanism
Going back to the original question I can't see what the role of AcOH is. I would have thought that $\ce{AcOH/H_2SO_4}$ is a very nice way to make an acetate (esterification) but if you plan to dehydrate then I am not sure what AcOH helps with. Not much help sorry, hopefully someone else could answer this $\endgroup$ –
