1938年，捷克兄弟Václav & Emmanuel Holek设计了ZK-382反坦克步枪（使用7.92x145mm枪弹） 在德军占领捷克斯洛伐克后，又在其基础上设计了M.SS.41反坦克步枪，PzB M.SS.41反坦克步枪大概可以算是第一种进入大批量生产阶段，并被军方大量采用的无托布局步枪了吧。

The 5-shot ZK 382 in 7.92x145mm caliber during a trial in 1938. The non-adjustable iron sights were zeroed for 500 meters and mounted on folding bases. To reduce the recoil, a muzzle brake was attached to the barrel and the stock got a padded leather cushion.
