History - Verdigre
Located in Knox County in Northeast Nebraska, Verdigre was established by Bohemian settlers in the beautiful Verdigris Valley. Verdigre was platted on July 12, 1887 by George Quimby. Some of the first establishments included two saloons, a post office, & a hotel or restaurant.
Recreation - Verdigre
Wildwood Acres Park got its start in 1972 when Dr. James G. Carlson donated 70 acres of land on the southeast edge of Verdigre. The 12 ft. deep heated swimming pool located in the middle of the park has a capacity for 210 swimmers and includes low and high diving board.

The Verdigre Heritage Museum shows the history of Verdigre through its many visual displays. There are many things displayed, such as old businesses and personal items of prominent people. Of the things displayed, some of the first you will see are the ones showing past military uniforms, and other military memorabilia.

Churches - Verdigre
A mission at Verdigre was formally organized as the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church on March 21, 1947. The first services were held in a building located on Main Street and rented from Frank Pierce.
