Birding at Old Mill State Park The bench located up above the WPA Era Structures on the western bank of the Middle River is an excellent place to sit and watch birds of all sorts. Excellent view shed of the lower bowl of the park with views along the river, the pond, and the woods. Bring a pair of binoculars for an enhanced experience.

There are two public areas on the stream, one a city park in Marine on the St. Croix and the other in William O'Brien State Park. The city park is located one block east of Highway 95 (St. Croix Trail N.) and one block south of the Brookside Tavern.
