Real-time tracking of measles full genome virus evolution
We maintain two views of measles evolution: The first is measles/genome, which uses full genome sequences. The second is measles/N450, which uses a 450bp region of the N gene ("N450") that is frequently sequenced for measles.
KEGG DISEASE: Measles - GenomeNet
Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by the measles virus, a morbillivirus in the Paramyxoviridae family of -ssRNA viruses. The disease may have existed for thousands of years. The virus was first isolated in 1954 and transformed into a vaccine in 1963 in the USA.
Genetic Analysis of Measles Viruses | Measles (Rubeola) | CDC
Wild-type measles viruses have been divided into eight clades containing 24 genotypes based on the nucleotide sequences of their hemagglutinin (H) and nucleoprotein (N) genes, which are the most variable genes in the viral genome.
KEGG PATHWAY: Measles - Homo sapiens (human) - GenomeNet
Measles virus (MV) is highly contagious virus that leads infant death worldwide. Humans are the unique natural reservoir for this virus. MV infection is characterized by virus-induced immune suppression that can lead to increased susceptibility to secondary bacterial and viral infections.
Complete Genome Sequences of Six Measles Virus Strains
Genetic characterization of wild-type measles virus (MV) strains is a critical component of measles surveillance and molecular epidemiology. We have obtained complete genome sequences of six MV strains belonging to different genotypes, using random-primed next generation sequencing.
Complete Genome Sequence of a Wild-Type Measles Virus …
2014年4月17日 · Here we report the complete genome sequence of a wild-type measles virus isolated from a patient in Munich (MVi/Muenchen.DEU/19.13[D8]) during a German measles outbreak in 2013. GENOME ANNOUNCEMENT Infections caused by measles virus (MV), the prototype of the Morbillivirus genus of the Paramyxoviridae family, remain a serious threat to …
Measles virus - Wikipedia
The measles virus (MV), with scientific name Morbillivirus hominis, is a single-stranded, negative-sense, enveloped, non-segmented RNA virus of the genus Morbillivirus within the family Paramyxoviridae.
Genetic Characterizations and Molecular Evolution of the Measles …
Measles virus (MeV) genotype B3 is one globally significant circulating genotype. Here, we present a systematic description of long-term evolutionary characterizations of the MeV genotype B3’s hemagglutinin (H) gene in the elimination era.
Molecule of the Month: Measles Virus Proteins - RCSB: PDB-101
The measles virus genome encodes six proteins, which are enough to choreograph its highly infectious life cycle. Three are involved in management of the genome.
Wild-Type Measles Viruses with Non-Standard Genome Lengths
2014年4月18日 · MeVs can be grouped into 24 genotypes based on the highly variable 450 nucleotides coding for the carboxyl-terminus of the nucleocapsid protein (N-450). Here, we report the genomic sequences of 2 wild-type viral isolates …
Virology of measles virus - PubMed
Measles virus is the prototypic member of the Morbillivirus genus of the family Paramyxoviridae. The viral genomic RNA is single-stranded, nonsegmented, and of negative polarity and encodes six major structural proteins.
Molecular evolution and genomic characteristics of genotype …
Measles is one of the most infectious diseases of humans. It is caused by the measles virus (MeV) and can lead to serious illness, lifelong complications, and even death. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) is now available to study molecular epidemiology and identify MeV transmission pathways.
Genetic Characterization of Measles and Rubella Viruses Detected ...
The standard sequence window for measles virus is the 450-nucleotide carboxy-terminal of the nucleocapsid gene in the MeV genome; the standard sequence window for rubella virus is a 739-nucleotide fragment (nucleotides 8,731–9,469) in the E1 gene in the RuV genome.
Direct sequencing of measles virus complete genomes in the …
2021年9月10日 · Molecular epidemiological investigations utilizing partial measles virus (MeV) genomes are challenged by reduction in global genotypes and low evolutionary rates. Greater resolution was reached using MeV complete genomes, however time and costs limit the application to numerous samples.
Structure-Measles-Virus-Nucleocapsid-Reveals - Chemical
2015年4月16日 · Like many viruses, the measles virus packages its genome into capsids formed by individual proteins that self-assemble into a large three-dimensional structure. But unlike most viruses, which have rigid capsids, measles and its relatives rely on …
Ongoing measles outbreak in Romania: Clinical investigation and ...
2025年1月15日 · The current measles epidemic in Romania is driven mainly by two D8 genotype variants with different mutation profiles and slightly different severity of the disease, highlighting the usefulness of sustained molecular surveillance. ...
