Homemade Blueing Salts - Cast Boolits
2012年11月27日 · I am just wondering if anyone has a recipe or/and tips on a good homemade blueing salt bath. I plan on buying one of those old star 9mm paras from sarco for my experiment, so I actually plan on trying different formulas and using muriatic acid to remove the blueing solution results until I find one that works on that particular type of steel.

2023年6月4日 · The results are "ok". It doesn't match the Springfield "Hot Salt Bath" blueing, exactly, but it's a little easier on the eyes. I will say, in natural light, it does not look nearly as noticeable as it appears on the photo. As part of this, I examined the axle shoulder of my slide stop (a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof) for protrusions.
GI's Hot Salt Blue Finish - 1911 Firearm Addicts
2021年7月18日 · Hot salt blue is a fairly pedestrian, standard firearms finish. It's what most manufacturers and gunsmiths use. The beauty comes from the quality of the surface prep and polish.

"Retro" Finish question..bluing? | 1911 Firearm Addicts
2024年3月16日 · Some bespoke houses (like Turnbull) can replicate that process and approximate results. Ordinary hot salt bluing can also be gorgeous but can't quite capture the colors that the old methods did. Still, even with hot salt bluing, if the metal prep is brought to a sufficient level, you can be amazed at the depth of gloss and shine.
Bluing Salts Creep - Cast Boolits
2010年12月7日 · I began salt bluing this last year with the help of several members here. Most notably, Linstrom. Thanks a million. I now come before the council fire of the elders to ask another question. What do you guys use to stop your bluing salts from creeping up the sides of the tank and onto floor? Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Everett P.S.
12 months with my first 1911: Springfield Garrison .45
2023年2月7日 · After researching options, and with a budget of around $1k, I settled on the Springfield Armory Garrison, model PX9420, in .45 ACP. It had almost everything I needed in a basic entry level gun. I really liked the hot salt blue finish and wood grips. I found one in Pennsylvania on GB that I had shipped to my local FFL in Florida: View attachment ...
High Polish DLC or Turnbull Charcoal Blue - 1911 Firearm Addicts
2020年10月14日 · Here is my take... decide what “look” you want! Turnbull’s a charcoal blue and a (non mirror) DLC (Bunker’s) look very similar. High polished DLC looks closer to high polished salt blue. If I am giving advise on the topic it’s this. Decide which look you like more. Then decide if you want bluing or DLC/PVD/IonBond...
Cold / rust blue formulas - Cast Boolits
2021年5月26日 · The rust blue will not "take" on an area that has oil on it. 2. This is a fast rust blue process and there is no reason to plug the bore. In a slow rust blue process you must protect the bore, but I've done rust bluing on barrels in less than an hour, and there is no possibility of damage to the bore if done right. 3.
