I plan on buying one of those old star 9mm paras from sarco for my experiment, so I actually plan on trying different formulas and using muriatic acid to remove the blueing solution results until I find one that works on that particular type of steel.

2023年6月4日 · The results are "ok". It doesn't match the Springfield "Hot Salt Bath" blueing, exactly, but it's a little easier on the eyes. I will say, in natural light, it does not look nearly as noticeable as it appears on the photo. As part of this, I examined the axle shoulder of my slide stop (a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof) for protrusions.

2022年11月28日 · Royal Blue and Baron Blue are the same hot salt process except Baron appears more highly, mirror polished. Turnbull is a different process-They call it Charcoal blue, its hand satin polished and then cooked in an oven coated with a mixture of chemicals that produces a more subdued gray blue.

Ordinary hot salt bluing can also be gorgeous but can't quite capture the colors that the old methods did. Still, even with hot salt bluing, if the metal prep is brought to a sufficient level, you can be amazed at the depth of gloss and shine.

I now come before the council fire of the elders to ask another question. What do you guys use to stop your bluing salts from creeping up the sides of the tank and onto floor?
