2015年8月13日 · The one that shoots to point of aim in your revolver. My gun shoots federal 110 hydra shok's the best. Chronoed velocity it was 940 out of my ruger lcr and the nose of the bullet is opened wide and cuts nicely. If it expand great if not who cares. Shoot what your revolver likes.

2006年3月19日 · The newer 642 shown below is on the slightly "stretched" frame that was adopted when S&W began offering J-frames in .357 magnum. It's barrel is stamped "38 S&W SPL +P" As is the case with 9mm, there is +P and there is +P. I still have some of the old .38 Special Corbon 115-gr. +P+, which I'm told is actually +P.

2024年8月24日 · I hold the opinion that the +P 158 grain lead semi-wadcutter load is the very best choice of all for .38 Special defensive use, regardless of barrel length. Mrs. BMc is a small slightly built gal. She's been toting a Smith & Wesson Model 642 since the late 1990s, loaded with either Remington or Winchester 158 grain lead +P loads.

2013年7月28日 · I like the .38 Special and carry .38 Special revolvers most of the time, even though similar revolvers chambered for .357 Magnum are on hand. I'm personally not so keen on full-powered magnum cartridges for self-defense purposes. Non-magnum straight-walled revolver cartridges will do just fine as will similar cartridges for the semi-auto pistols.

2021年7月9日 · Grant Cunningham says in this book on snubby revolvers that his preferred load is Speer Gold Dot, 135-grain .38 Special + P JHP. His reasoning is that it was a round developed for police for max stopping power out of a .38 and it has a long and successful track record in actual use in short barrels.
