Bambusa vulgaris ‘Wamin’ (Dwarf Buddha Belly Bamboo) is a small-sized evergreen bamboo with dark shiny green canes, up to 3 in. wide (7 cm), adorned with short and swollen lower internodes resembling the fat belly of the Buddha. The canes hold up thin branches covered in long green leaves, up to 12 in. (30 cm).

1906年出版的（（印度树木志》（Indian Trees）一书中，D. Brandis根据缅甸掸邦北部花园中所栽培的“Wamin”而在685页首次描述这一观赏竹。 他当时也曾指出其竿箨与龙头竹的相似。

This species forms open clumps of weeping culms. Leaves are linear with an acute apex. The culms (12 cm wide) swell and protrude slightly at the nodes which are tightly spaced together. The culms on the perimeter of the clump lean gently outwards forming an arc.
