How can I figure out the electron configuration of Br-?
In the case of $\ce{Br-}$ it is an anion of charge minus 1 meaning that it will have one more electron than a normal bromine atom. So really its electron configuration will be the same as krypton which is the atom after bromine. So all you have to do is add an extra electron in the last orbital, the 4p orbital.

How many electrons are there in #Br^-#? - Socratic
2015年11月16日 · The "Br"^(-)" ion has 36 electrons. The atomic number for bromine is 35, which means it has 35 protons in its atomic nuclei. A neutral bromine atom would also have 35 electrons. In order for a bromine atom to become a 1- bromide ion, it would have to gain an additional electron. Below is the Lewis dot structure for a neutral bromine atom, which has …
How do you write the noble-gas electron configuration for
2014年11月21日 · The noble gas configuration for bromine is : [Ar]3d^(10)4s^(2)4p^(5) The previous noble gas is argon which has the electron configuration of : 1s^(2)2s^(2)2p^(6)3s^(2)3p^(6) We call this the argon core. It's a handy way of writing out electron structures without writing all the inner electron shells.
What is the noble gas notation for the electron Br? | Socratic
2014年4月29日 · "Noble gas notation" means that in writing out an electron configuration for an atom, rather than writing out the occupation of each and every orbital specifically, you instead lump all of the core electrons together and designate it with the symbol of the corresponding noble gas on the periodic table (in brackets). For example, if I wrote out the full electron configuration …
What is the electron configuration for As? - Socratic
2016年6月16日 · The complete electron for a neutral arsenic atom is: "1s"^2"2s"^2"2p"^6"3s"^2"3p"^6"3d"^(10)"4s"^2"4p"^3 Its shorthand electron configuration is: ["Ar"]"3d"^(10)"4s"^2"4p"^3 As is the chemical symbol for the element arsenic. Its atomic number is 33, which is the number of protons in the nuclei of its atoms. In a neutral atom, the number …
Is the shorthand electron configuration of Br- just [Kr]?
You could render bromide ion that way. But the outermost electrons in the "krypton core" are potentially reactive, valence electrons; therefore $\text{[Kr]}$ is not an accurate description of how the electrons really act.
