2024年11月3日 · I’m using a W21x44 in the first one and framing the exterior wood trusses into the side. For the 2nd detail, I’m using a W12x26 with a WT12x31 because the beam extends past the step so the beam needs to be lower, but the WT is needed for a portion of the span just to pick up the interior wood trusses on the right side of the detail.

This beam is 6.5" wide, 20.625"deep and weighs 44 pounds per foot of beam. You will need to provide a timber nailer (2x8) bolted to the top flange of the steel beam.

There is NO kicker from the bar joist bracing the bottom flange against twist, however, it appears that they considered the bar joist as bracing in the weak direction. Is this standard? The axial load on the original design drawing is 147k. The beam used is a W21x44. Its span is 20'. Fy=36ksi.

2015年7月6日 · While the beam reaction is low, the beam is likely a long member governed by deflection (hence W21x44). That may mean significant slope at the support and possibly a prying mechanism at the connection plate that somehow dumped a ton of compression right into the CMU head shell and caused it to fracture.

2006年4月8日 · I have not found the British Sections limiting in their options - unless I am missing something the difference in wt between W21x44(at 65.4 kg/m) and UB533x165x66 kg/m and W24x55 ( 81.8 KG/m) and UB 610x178x82 kg/m is insignificant.
