2018年5月19日 · Has anyone driven both levels of trim and if so is there any difference in handling between the 2 specs? Looking at what info i can find I think the R Design may have a firmer ride. Given I'm moving from a hot hatch to a XC40 I would like to find out if the handling of an inscription is noticeably different and softer than a R Design.

2019年10月16日 · Personal taste really but for me the xc40 seems to be volvos attempt at getting away from the old man image ( much like the Mercedes A class) and I think the funky design suits the R design better. On another note is it just me or does the xc40 and xc90 look really good but the xc60 does look a bit derek in his beige slacks

2020年7月17日 · I find the R-Design just right, firm enough but comfortable on our poor roads. It ain't no sports car though and you tend to drive in a more relaxed manner as befits the type of car that the XC40 is. Bear in mind (from another thread) that the R-Design has lost some of its nice design touches. Chris

2019年3月4日 · Ordered a new car for my wife last month and keep having the nagging thought that I should have gone for the Pro over the stock R Design. Ordered the MY2020 R Design with winter pack, front park assist and powered memory front seats - from what I can see the only major difference is bendy headlights and bigger wheels.

2021年7月9日 · I have an XC40 R Design on order and after reading this section on faults I'm beginning to question my decision. There seems to be a whole raft of problems with this vehicle, despite all the positive "professional" reviews I'm starting to think I'm buying one of the most unreliable and problematic cars on the market after reading this forum.

2020年9月13日 · Interestingly, they say "Curiously, the XC40 rides most adeptly on 'sports' suspension, which is fitted as standard to R-Design versions. The softer 'dynamic' suspension on other trims is still comfy but doesn't keep the car's body …

2018年4月24日 · Not sure I can comment from experience on 20" on the R-Design but yes, the R design has firmer suspension than the other models. I can certainly vouch for the smoothness of the ride with 18" on the Inscription. Do you have 4-C suspension? as this may have a bearing on things and it is possible that the car you test drove was fitted with it.

2018年4月25日 · Ok, I approached my dealer and spec'd an Inscription as they said that I might get it earlier. Unfortunately rather than simply 'edit' my order by changing the R Design and its options to an Inscription with similar (but not the same) options, in Volvo's eyes this is treated as a new order rather than an amendment (even if you only change the colour of the paint).
