The superiority of wear resistance of a radial tire is due to its high stiffness at the crown because of the high-stiffness belts which enable the tread to deform less than that of a bias one. A radial tire has several disadvantages compared with a bias one. Higher stiffness at the crown causes bad ride comfort while cruising on an uneven road.
