Pradip Kumar Banerjee FIFAOM (23 June 1936 – 20 March 2020) [6] was an Indian professional footballer who played as a striker [7] for the India national football team. [ 8 ] [ 9 ] He also captained the national team [ 10 ] and later on became the coach of the national team.

In 1955, Indian football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim spotted P. K. Banerjee. Later, he became one of his favourite players. He was the first Indian footballer who scored maximum goals (5) in his international debut match, which was against Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) for the Quadrangular tournament in Dhaka in 1955. This tournament got him the Colombo Cup.
