2010年6月27日 · JBL L88 plus 12’s for sale for $350 where i grew up… Point Pleasant, NJ. I just got a pair and they sound just like L100’s or my 4311’s. There’s no sifference except $1500 less. 2011年1月15日 · The L88 was JBL's attempt to dial the exceedingly popular L100 to a lower price point, and while the looks were a spectacular success, the performance fell flat. JBL acknowledged this by bringing out the midrange upgrade kit, so the younger price conscious buyers could later upgrade.

2022年10月7日 · These are the original pre 1970 JBL L88. The ones that were the best but too expensive so JBL tried to make them more affordable but never could duplicate the originals. These are the most desirable and rarer than the 70-74 models. These are before the Nova, and before the Plus. These are the first generation original L88's with original Speakers.

2012年2月23日 · If I remember correctly, the JBL L-88, a 2-way speaker, had the same woofer and tweeter as the 3-way L-100. Just how well a 12" woofer worked with a 1½" cone tweeter is a good question. Apparently that woofer was smooth to as high as 5 kHz, and the tweeter could go as low as 1 or 2 kHz, so it is possible to imagine them working together.

2006年8月3日 · Don't forget the JBL L88 Nova in this lineage. It is predecessor of the L-88/P. It is a 2-way with the 123A-1 woofer and LE20-1 tweeter, and no factory provision for adding the midrange.

2022年1月8日 · I have a pair of L88 cabs and the label just says Type L88 JBL 88 I’m assuming these are the same as the OPs. Well except mine don’t have the original drivers. I’m thinking mine are the first gen L88.

2020年6月25日 · In the case of the L88 plus, there was also a hole in the cabinet (with a cover) where you could potentially install a midrange driver. For that, there was the M12 Expander Kit, which allowed you to essentially convert a L88 Plus into a L100 by adding a midrange (into the pre-existing hole) and a new crossover.

2023年8月26日 · I recently picked up some JBL l88 plus speakers that were converted to l100s. The owner said that the crossovers had never been touched so I wanted to recap them and put new l-pads in the speakers to make sure they keep working good for years to come.

2017年11月22日 · Comparing the L88 and the L100 at the same volume, you will have a LOT more power going through the voice coils of the LE20-1 tweeters in the L88 compared to the LE20-1 tweeters in the L100.
