The Airco DH.2 was a single-seat pusher biplane fighter aircraft which operated during the First World War. It was the second pusher design by aeronautical engineer Geoffrey de Havilland for Airco, based on his earlier DH.1 two-seater.

The single-seat Airco DH2 was designed as a result of lessons learned in early aerial combat. This was Geoffrey de Havilland's 2nd pusher design for the Aircraft Manufacturing Company (Airco) and probably one of the most significant. It was derived from the Airco DH1 two-seater and retained the biplane pusher layout.

Developed in 1915, the DH-2 biplane was one of the first effective British fighters of World War One. Designed by Geoffrey de Havilland, the DH-2 was a response to the arrival of the Fokker Eindecker appearing over the Western Front.

So (now legendary) aircraft designer Geoffrey de Havilland designed the Airco DH.2 as a 'pusher' with the prop at the rear of the small fuselage, which would allow the the pilot to fire a Lewis machine gun directly forward.

It was replaced by the Airco DH-2 single-seat biplane in February 1916. Despite a lack of speed and an unreliable engine, the DH-2 was more manoeuvrable than German Fokker E- types and helped to establish allied air supremacy over Germany during the Battle of the Somme.
