I have friends to stay with in Germany and Denmark so I already know what cities I will be going to there, but I am wondering what the best cities in the other countries are to visit.

Here are my favorite cities (in no particular order): Barcelona, London, Paris, Prague, Budapest, Rome, Florence, Istanbul, Moscow. For your trip, you could split your time between Paris and London and do some day trips.

London: Ditto, and also the great theater shows. Rome: I was in awe of the history there. Also great food. Rotterdam: I love all the Dutch cities I've been to, but Rotterdam is pretty unique in Europe thanks to its modern architecture. Also easy to reach the other big Dutch cities by train.

September is by far the best month to visit Europe. The weather is still great, but crowds have started to dissipate. I was in Venice in late September and I fell in love with it. Regardless of time of year, the best way to do Venice is to spend hours just walking the neighborhoods away from the central tourist areas.

The absolute best answer I can think of is Montenegro- amazing food, beautiful varied landscapes, old cities everywhere, good wine, and much more affordable than the super popular places like Italy. What are your favourite European cities for solo travel?
I’ve been to the following cities with a prior significant other: London, Paris, Amsterdam, Ghent/Bruges, Budapest, Rome, Florence, Vienna, Prague. Although I’d like to go to places I’ve never seen, I’m pretty much open to anything, I feel regardless of where I go, travelling solo will be a much different experience.
