WhatsApp is adding new choices for customizing your chats, with both preset themes and mix-and-match colors for backgrounds and chat bubbles, as well as a selection of 30 new wallpapers.

WhatsApp has been working on chat themes for some time now. The feature was first spotted in September 2024, and Meta rolled out the option to select beta testers a month later, in October 2024. Four months later, WhatsApp is finally rolling out Chat themes to the stable channel, enabling you to make your conversations more colorful.

1. To find the new Chat theme option, simply open WhatsApp on your device and click on the three-dot menu that appears on the top right of the app. 2. From the drop down menu, tap on Settings, and on the page that appears, find and click on “Chats”.
