The co-founder of defunct law firm LeClairRyan PLLC won a federal court appeal seeking to have his name removed from a list of equity holders that remain on the hook for tax liabilities.

LeClair grew up in Old Tappan, N.J., which should make the learning easier. He and Dennis Ryan started the firm in 1988 when they left Virginia’s largest partnership, Hunton & Williams.
