考评局去年首次在文凭试全面推行PESS2，惟当中的「监考易」及「报到易」程式接连故障，随后宣布停用「监考易」。考评局早前宣布推出两个程式的更新版本，并在今年文凭试使用，系统演练的目的是进一步评估及测试PESS2系统在所有礼堂试场同时举办笔试时的系统负载。
