Some of the paths are paved, some are grassy. I, too, have difficulty walking having been hit by a car a year ago and have a rod in my tibia and ligaments replaced in the other knee. I just went slowly and didn't have any trouble with it. I actually used my granddaughter's stroller for stability, although I no longer use a cane or other apparatus. Hope this helps!
