The Golden Reef Stamp is an ore-crushing machine used in extracting gold from rocks. It's part of a series of processes that reduces big rocks to teeny-tiny bits. Then that fine sand is run thru a process that collects the gold. Our stamp mill is a ten stamp mill. (The Stamp Mill at the Phoenix Mine had 100 stamps!). It was originally located at The Golden Reef mine on Continental Mountain, was brought down in an arduous 3 day trip, then a team of dedicated volunteers spent seven years restoring it. It does run at least once a month---sometimes more---during Season. Our stamp mill is the only fully functioning stamp mill in Az.
