The walk up the hill to the castle keep can be done on the main drive which is tarmac and steep but only takes about 5 mins. Once your at the top the view is fantastic! The keep itself has around 8 steps to enter the first tower then around 8 more steps (narrow, steep staircase) once inside. The visitor centre is located just by the carpark at the bottom of the hill (no steps). Hope this helps.
