A very touching and poignant memorial to those 20,000 plus Second World War Airmen who have no known grave. This is a very simple memorial, but is overwhelming in its size and what each of the names…emuslushy的完整评论

This RAF Memorial is very moving. How many people realise that thousands died in the second world war and nobody knows where they are. My husband's father was an Air Gunner and some of his crew died …Sheila W的完整评论

Hi Carolyn. Sorry, I live in Wellington New Zealand so wouldn't pretend to be an expert on London transport. We were staying at Englefield Green when we visited so it was easy for us, literally a five-minute walk. I know you can get the train from Waterloo to Egham. It's then a 1.3m walk or a short taxi journey to the Memorial. Probably your best bet if you don't ahve a car. Regards, Allan
I'm travelling without a car. What is the best way to get to this memorial and where is a good place to stay nearby?

Hi! It really depends on your budget. Your best base if you’re in the area for more than a couple of days would be Windsor. Failing that, the closest hotel is the Runnymede on the Thames which is close by. A regular bus service operates from/to Windsor past the end of the road to the Memorial. More details should be available from the CWGC website, I would have thought. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the bus stops. Failing that, a local taxi service will transport you. To enjoy this memorial to its fullest, please allow roughly an hour for your visit. Or longer if you are looking for a specific name or names. All the columns are numbered so it should be possible to cross reference the name with the column number. Enjoy your visit.
