HI. Apologies for the delay in answering your query. It’s quite a long journey from London to Powis Castle but if I were driving I would come via M1 and M54 to Shrewsbury and then turn off for Mid Wales. Train is easier with links from Shrewsbury to Welshpool (nearest town to Powis Castle). Lots of places in the area for short breaks too.

Disabled parking is at the bottom of the slope up to the castle. There is a shuttle bus with.wheelchair access but probably worth phoning on the day to check if it is running as drivers are volunteers. it is possible to drive up to drop people off at The courtyard. The castle has lots of steps. The garden is obviously steep and terraced but there is a step free route right round, indicated on the map you are given. The bus will take you up from the cafe at the bottom of the garden to the car park or courtyard.
