Well, you could travel to Nan by bus and then hire a van to take you up there. But I don't recommend that unless you are traveling with some Thai people. So if you want to rent a car it would be OK. Otherwise, I would suggest that you select another destination that is easier to reach. Good kuck!

Yes, it is. Tent and sleeping bag are around 1-400 THB a night.
