Is the parking lot free? How far is the walk from it to the viewing point (we don't plan on going down)?

There is no entrance fee for the National Lakeshore and parking is free. The Log Slide parking lot is a short walk (2 minutes?) through the woods. There is a slight climb up the inland …
There is no entrance fee for the National Lakeshore and parking is free. The Log Slide parking lot is a short walk (2 minutes?) through the woods. There is a slight climb up the inland face of the dunes to get to the overlook. There no longer is a wooden platform (destroyed by storms) so you just have to carefully pick your spot near the edges of the steep slope facing Lake Superior for your views. Hope this helps.
