I understand there is a small parking area. If that is full is there anywhere else nearby?

Sorry no idea ,we went by the 79 bus which stops almost outside. However it is in a non commercial area, in a housing area so would probably not be a problem

The tunnels are only 350m (I believe - didn't keep count!) long so never too far from one end or the other and the accessible sections are U-shaped . They're wide and tall, and cool, although the walkway is narrow in one section and it's lit for the whole length (not brightly though). The transition from one branch of the U to the other is narrow and you do pause here for some of the most interesting tales about Williamson (but it's no priest hole!). The staff are very good and I'm sure will be flexible for your husband. Give it a go, it's only £3.50 to get in and even if you don't complete the money isn't wasted - the tunnels are run entirely on donations by enthusiasts.
