Hi there, my wife and I will be traveling to Machu Picchu in January. We would like to hike Huaynapichu, see the moon temple up there and visit the ruins at the citadel. Do we take an early ticket, hike Huaynapicchu first then tour the ruins of the citadel or the opposite? It's very confusing and there is so much contradictory information. Please let me know..thank you!

Altitude will also be a challenge. And then visiting the main ruins, which will take two hours. Make all travel arrangements before, including entrance tickets, via a good agency. Good luck

Anywhere has a website that you can visit. Outstanding! Most travel agencies will NOT provide a guide or recommend that one take this hike, but Anywhere went above and beyond because I toured Machu Picchu one day, stayed over night in Aguas Calientes, and got to tour Machu Picchu again before assending Huynai Picchu. The guides for both excursions are outstanding in their knowledge of Peruvian/Inca history. The agency put the entire week of excursions together for me from Lima, Cusco, Aguas Calientes, and back to Lima. It was very easy and affordable, also. Enjoy!
After you make a reservation for Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu through the government website online do you have to pay for it right away? The website seems to indicate that you can pay for it through their office in Cusco, but will they actually hold the reservation for you? I was able to download a ticket with a reservation number, but I did not pay for it right away (this was a few days ago). Now when I go back to the the website and enter in my reservation number, it says that my reservation is not found. Is my ticket still valid?
