Hello. It is not guided and you just move from area to area at your own pace. As I said, we were lucky to have one of the volunteers approach us and he was excellent at answering our questions. That said, all the exhibits have plenty of information on or nearby them. We did enjoy it immensely. Give yourself plenty of time as this is spread over quite a big area. Take a picnic or eat in the NAAFI type building. Remember, it will be hot in the hangers during the current weather but there is plenty to see outside too.

There are plenty of small buildings that have exhibits in, a cinema, a cafe. The largest is a hanger that has a lot of different planes, and other items. You could be in there for a good hour if you wanted to see and read the plaques that tell you what they are. I hope that answers your question.

From memory, it took us about twenty minutes to drive into the city centre (we were staying outside the city and made this our first stop on the way in). It's not far in terms of miles, but inevitably you will encounter some slow-moving traffic. If you are in the city centre and travelling out, then it should probably take a bit less time. For an aviation enthusiast (or perhaps a former member of the RAF), I would say this is a 'must do' museum to visit, so I hope that you are able to make it.
