Sharon Rosenbaum Smith, MD, is associate chief of breast surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, a part of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute. She sees patients with breast cancer and benign breast disease such as fibroadenoma, fibrocystic changes, and ductal or lobular hyperplasia. She also provides care to people at high risk of developing breast cancer, including those with BRCA mutations or a family history of the disease. Her specialty is breast conservation surgery or lumpectomy, as well as skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomies. She performs sentinel lymph node dissection to determine whether breast cancer has spread. "I bring a comprehensive care approach that treats the whole patient," says Dr. Rosenbaum Smith. Her treatment plans incorporate exercise, nutrition, and integrative wellness programs such as meditation, massage and yoga. Dr. Rosenbaum Smith earned her medical degree at New York Medical College.
