Bampton is located in the Eastern Fells, also known to many as the quieter side of the Lakes away from the madness of Windermere and the southern lakes and the crowds of people but close enough to visit for a day trip. We are located close to Penrith and the A6/M6. Our village is beautiful, with links to Haweswater and Helton fell, Askham and Lowther castle, a must see for our visitors. One of the most wonderful sights is the ruin of Shap Abbey which stands desolate in the most bucolic setting. Lowther castle is again a must see, suitable for all the family for walks and adventures with the added benefit of cycle hire and many other potential adventures such as Horse trecking days.
