Hello Raluca, We booked a 3 day at nThambo including private transfer. Like Glen said, make sure you are comparing all of the right things. It IS expensive but you are also getting nice accommodation, small safari groups, good food, professional guides (and more). Again, it was not fun to pay for but it was beyond worth it.

The price for me as one adult, with them picking me up at my hotel in Pretoria including transportation to and from the park and overnight stay at a nice hotel in the park, was about $450. Included a late afternoon into the evening tour and an early morning tour. Was great and well worth it. Have no idea about cost for a child.
